Founded in Denmark in 2007, Esencia brings together Scandinavian simplicity, Japanese minimalism and traditional Bolivian craftsmanship to create timeless knitwear rooted in nature and simplicity.

Each piece is handcrafted in La Paz by skilled artisan families using traditional techniques passed down through generations, with a strong commitment to fair trade, long-term partnerships and the preservation of local craftsmanship.

Native to the high plains of the Andes, alpacas and llamas are naturally adapted to dramatic temperature changes, from around –25°C to +18°C. Their fibres contain tiny air pockets that help retain warmth in the cold while remaining breathable when temperatures rise. Exceptionally soft, lightweight and durable, alpaca and baby llama fibres naturally insulate, absorb moisture and regulate temperature — making them especially suited to children.
